Microsoft has released the public preview of Service Update 10.0.47 for Dynamics 365 Finance. This version brings a range of improvements and new capabilities across key financial areas. This blog highlights the most notable updates in plain language so you can quickly understand what’s changed.

What This Update Includes

The new Finance update adds improvements in areas such as budgeting, accounts receivable, subscription billing, general ledger, and tax processing. Some changes are offered as optional features you can turn on, while others improve performance or are enabled by default.

Accounts Receivable

This release includes enhancements that affect invoicing and customer data:

  • Structured Addresses in QR-Bill – For Switzerland, the QR-Bill now supports properly structured addresses for both biller and debtor, improving compliance with local billing requirements.

Budgeting

A small but helpful change gives finance teams more control over budget reservations:

  • Cancel Individual Lines on Budget Reservations – You can now cancel specific lines within a budget reservation without having to cancel the entire reservation. This gives more flexibility when adjusting budgets.

Subscription Billing

There are two useful updates for subscription revenue processing:

  • Better Performance for Unbilled Revenue Processing – The system can now process unbilled revenue in parallel, which helps performance when working with large volumes of data.
  • New Transaction Date Field for Unbilled Revenue – A new date field provides clearer control over when recalculations are applied during subscription billing runs.

General Ledger

Several refinements in general ledger help with month-end tasks:

  • Enhanced Ledger Period Close Workspace (Preview) – The period close workspace now supports multi-stage task statuses, better audit tracking, and improved reporting.
  • Update Balances Button in Trial Balance – When enabled, you can start a batch job to update dimension set balances manually instead of waiting for automatic updates.
  • Improved Account Reconciliation Workspace – You can now filter by legal entity in sandbox environments, which can make testing and reconciliation work easier.

Tax Improvements

Tax processing has a few performance and usability enhancements:

  • Better Tax Calculation Performance – Queries for free text invoices run more efficiently thanks to caching and optimization enhancements.
  • Improved Withholding Tax Performance – Withholding tax is now calculated more efficiently in payment proposals.
  • Multi-Language Support for Advanced Tax Engine – The advanced tax calculation engine now supports multiple languages for its interface.

Features Enabled by Default

Several enhancements are turned on by default in this version. These include:

  • Faster performance and usability improvements in accounts receivable, budgeting, cash and bank reconciliation, and collections automation.
  • Support for financial tags in free text invoices, and improved vendor matching in bank reconciliation.
  • Tax features such as reverse charge mechanisms and expanded regional support are now enabled or mandatory.

Features Removed from Feature Management

Some features that were previously optional in Feature Management are now fully integrated into the product. This means they are always available and don’t need to be turned on separately.

What This Means for You

These changes in 10.0.47 deliver better performance, more flexibility in budgeting and billing, and enhanced tools for closing and reconciliation. Many of the updates are about improving efficiency and making everyday work in Finance smoother.

Once the update is available in your environment, check the Feature Management workspace to review these new options and decide which ones you want to enable.
